expect / estimate / project / forecast / predict
House prices are expected to rise sharply.
The deal is estimated to be worth around $1.5 million.
Temperatures were forecast to reach 40℃.
The report forecasts that prices will rise by 3% next month.

英文釋義:to say what you think will happen in the future based on information that is available now 預(yù)測
In a number of countries, some people think it is necessary to spend large sums of money on constructing new railway lines for very fast trains between cities. Others believe the money should be spent on improving existing public transport.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Nowadays, high-speed trains enjoy much popularity in some countries, while in some places some people insist that the investment in the present public vehicles should be made. Views on how to respond to this phenomenon tend to be divisive.
It saves plenty of time for people who travel a lot by the very fast railway transport, and it really improves the efficiency in the fast changing world. High-speed trains are powered by electricity, which helps reduce the pollution as well. Moreover, the new and updated facilities and equipment in the trains make the journey more enjoyable than buses and trains with diesel locomotives do. For example, there are free Wifi connections, longer legroom, lower noises, many electricity outlets available in the new trains. Overall, the life is becoming much easier with an increasing number of new railroad lines constructed in some nations.
There are also some people who think government should upgrade the existing public transport. This is because vehicles, like buses, undergrounds, old trains, offer cheaper fares which is affordable for the low-income people, and give some discounts for students, the old and the disabled. In addition, buses are much more flexible in terms of the time schedule and stations. My parents live in a small town without trains and planes, and I have to visit them by coach. I really hope the old and dirty seats of some buses can be replaced with clean and comfortable ones sooner.
Personally, I think money is supposed to be used for both these two kind of transport systems which are catered for the needs of different people. They are complementary in terms of their distinct advantages mentioned above.
